Teradata Developer

Job Summary

Synechron is seeking a dedicated and skilled Teradata Developer to join our Data this role you will be responsible for designing developing and maintaining robust data warehousing solutions utilizing Teradata technologies. Your expertise will enable the organization to enhance data management capabilities optimize data retrieval processes and support strategic decision-making through high-quality scalable data solutions. The role plays a pivotal part in enabling data-driven insights that contribute directly to our business objectives.

Software Requirements

Required Software Skills:

• Teradata SQL (including performance tuning techniques)

• Teradata Utilities (BTEQ FastLoad MultiLoad FastExport)

• Teradata Studio and other Teradata-specific tools

• SQL scripting and stored procedures

Preferred Software Skills:

• Data integration tools (Informatica Talend or similar)

• Unix/Linux command-line tools and scripting experience

• Data modeling tools (ERWin PowerDesigner etc.)

Overall Responsibilities

• Develop optimize and maintain complex SQL queries stored procedures macros and scripts within Teradata environments

• Design and implement scalable data models ETL workflows and data loading strategies aligned with business requirements

• Troubleshoot and enhance existing Teradata databases ensuring system stability and performance

• Collaborate closely with business analysts data architects and cross-functional teams to interpret data needs and translate them into effective technical solutions

• Monitor system performance and implement tuning measures to optimize data processing efficiencies

• Ensure complete data accuracy security and compliance with organizational policies and standards

• Document technical specifications development activities and system processes for ongoing maintenance and knowledge sharing

Technical Skills (By Category)

Programming Languages:

• Required: TeraSQL BTEQ scripting

• Preferred: Python UNIX shell scripting

Databases/Data Management:

• Required: Strong proficiency in Teradata data warehousing concepts dimensional modeling and SQL optimization

• Preferred: Experience with other relational and big data platforms (e.g. Hadoop Spark)

Cloud Technologies:

• Preferred: Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP) and cloud data services (e.g. Snowflake Redshift)

Frameworks and Libraries:

• Not specifically applicable; focus remains on database and ETL tools

Development Tools and Methodologies:

• Use of Teradata Studio ETL tools version control systems (Git or similar) Agile/Scrum methodologies

Security Protocols:

• Knowledge of data security best practices data masking access controls and compliance standards

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Teradata Developer or working within large-scale data warehousing environments

• Demonstrable experience designing and implementing ETL processes and data models

• Proven track record in performance tuning and maintaining high availability of Teradata systems

• Experience working with cross-functional teams and translating business requirements into technical solutions

• Experience with industry-specific data management practices where relevant (finance healthcare etc.)

Day-to-Day Activities

• Developing and testing SQL scripts stored procedures and macros to meet business needs

• Collaborating in stakeholder meetings to understand and refine data requirements

• Monitoring system performance dashboards and implementing tuning strategies

• Debugging and resolving database issues to ensure smooth data operations

• Creating technical documentation and sharing updates with team members

• Participating in Agile sprints regular stand-ups and code reviews

• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in data processes and systems

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field or equivalent professional experience

• Certifications (e.g. Teradata Certified Professional Program) are advantageous

• Training in advanced SQL data warehousing or related disciplines is preferred
