Compensation: $19$22 per hour (depending on experience)
Location: Weehawken NJ
Start Date: School Year 2025-2026
Hours: Monday through Friday 2:30 PM 6:00 PM

About the Role

Apollo After School offers after-school care and enrichment clubs at local schools. We are seeking outgoing personable and reliable teachers to lead our school-based STEM programs. While a degree in Education or a STEM-related field is preferred applicants with relevant experience and a passion for teaching are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on STEM lessons using provided curriculum and materials.
  
  
• Implement engaging activities projects and experiments that foster curiosity and encourage practical application of STEM concepts.
  
  
• Create and maintain a fun inclusive and safe learning environment that encourages experimentation and teamwork.
  
  
• Evaluate student progress and foster a love for math and science.
  
  
• Assist with homework completion and provide academic support when needed.
  
  
• Follow the designated schedule and curriculum while maintaining consistent routines.
  
  
• Ensure the safety and supervision of all students at all times.
  
  
• Communicate effectively with students parents and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience working with children in a classroom or after-school setting (ages 410).
  
  
• Experience teaching or assisting with STEM subjects (science technology engineering or math).
  
  
• Ability to manage a classroom independently and maintain student engagement.
  
  
• Bachelors degree (or coursework toward a degree) in Education STEM fields or a related area preferred.
  
  
• Experience with robotics kits or coding platforms (e.g. Scratch Python etc.) a plus.
  
  
• A team player who collaborates well with peers and staff.
  
  
• Passionate about STEM education and inspiring young learners.
  
  
• Patient flexible dependable and genuinely enjoys working with children.
