About the Team:
The propulsion team at Relativity is responsible for the successful development of the engines that will power the Terran R vehicle. We own their design from concept through to launch and reuse. Our team partners heavily with manufacturing test launch and integration teams striving to develop our engines in record time and to support Terran Rs first launch in 2026. As part of this team you will help build test and iterate on the full product lifecycle of our Aeon-R engine systems seeing them mature and eventually bring Terran R into space.
About the Role
As a Turbomachinery Engineer you will develop the assemblies for the fuel and oxidizer turbopumps of the Aeon-R engine family. You will collaborate closely with the propulsion development and manufacturing teams to incorporate improvements into future order to be successful in this role you should be someone who thrives in ambiguity and is able to drive their own projects to completion. You must have the passion tenacity and resolve to work through challenging issues unique to rocket turbopumps. We are looking for someone multifaceted and capable of working at the interfaces of design development and analysis of turbomachinery. Ideally you are someone who has come from a fast paced aerospace environment having completed difficult projects while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary groups.
About You
- Bachelors degree in a science engineering technology or mathematics field
- 5 years of relevant experience preferably with turbomachinery systems
- Experience overseeing turbomachinery development and/or test campaigns
- Ability to perform basic structural thermal and/or fluid analysis
- Experience performing turbomachinery analyses (bladed CFD structural modal rotordynamics)
- Knowledge of industry standard turbomachinery design and analysis
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of turbopump assembly procedures including rotor balancing interference fits clearance checks structural proofing and leak checks
Nice to haves but not required:
- Experience designing bladed turbopump components (inducers impellers turbines)
- Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment
- Experience working in a flight development program
