Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Registered Nurse (RN) to join our night shift team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of hands-on experience in a hospital MICU environment offering expert care to critically ill medical patients. This role requires clinical precision sound critical thinking and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered care in one of the hospitals most demanding units.
Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients within the Medical ICU following evidence-based standards. Perform focused assessments to identify rapid changes in cardiorespiratory neurological and hemodynamic status. Administer and titrate critical medications including vasoactive and sedative infusions per physician orders and protocols. Manage life-support equipment ventilators and invasive monitoring devices safely and effectively. Collaborate with intensivists physicians respiratory therapists and interdisciplinary staff to develop individualized treatment plans. Maintain accurate and detailed patient documentation in EPIC EMR. Support families through education and communication regarding patient conditions treatments and recovery processes. Adhere strictly to infection prevention safety procedures and hospital quality standards.
Qualifications and Requirements Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred. Associate degree considered only with relevant experience or active enrollment in a BSN program. Licensure: Current Registered Nurse license in New York State.
Experience Minimum 2 years of Medical ICU experience in a hospital setting required. Minimum 2 years of RN experience overall.
Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) Required Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Required
Skills and Competencies Advanced clinical knowledge of critical care and hemodynamic management. Skilled in ventilator management central line care and emergency response. Strong assessment critical thinking and prioritization abilities in high-stress environments. Proficient in EPIC documentation and ICU workflow efficiency. Professional communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within the interdisciplinary team. Ability to maintain precision and composure while caring for high-acuity patients in a 14-bed unit with an average census of 13.6.
