The Legal Assistant is part of a team of administrative assistants in the Office of the General Counsel OGC. This position performs a wide range of secretarial and administrative and clerical office duties requiring knowledge of University and departmental policies and procedures as they relate to the legal work performed by the Office of the General Counsel University Attorneys and leadership. Typical duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Processing and editing correspondence memos and legal documents including photocopying scanning and redacting information from documents and transcribing handwritten documents and recorded messages performing specialized typing assignments requiring rapid and accurate typing of technical and legal material preparing various legal documentation such as pleadings affidavits corporate filings and legal memoranda creating organizing and maintaining files for a variety of legal matters managing calendars and answering phones all the while being mindful of confidentiality obligations and serving the needs of clients. Minimum of 3 years of related experience in an administrative support role. Must be extremely proficient with Microsoft Office specifically Outlook Word PowerPoint Excel.

Additional Details - Preferred Pay Rate Range : 65000 - 75000 annually

- Additional Job Details : We seek to hire a temporary intake paralegal. The position involves interviewing prospective clients over the phone and in person gathering and organizing records presenting information to attorneys for consideration and informing prospective clients of whether our program can offer representation or a referral. The position is M-F 9-5 on site at the Legal Services Center (note: we might be open to 1-2 days of remote work per week for the right candidate and after the person is fully trained and has a track record of success in the role). The duration of the position is not currently known with certainty but it is likely this will be an area of need for us at least through the end of the calendar year and perhaps beyond.
