DescriptionPerforms clerical and receptionist duties essential to the operation of patient care as directed and also receives instructions from physicians and nurses.
ResponsibilitiesRoles & Responsibilities
- Identifies by use of the plate imprinter the stationery (e.g. Kardex Chart Forms) and requisitions of each patient
- Maintains up-to-date and accurate patient rosters (e.g. locator board TPR BP weight book
- Maintains a system for tracking the location of each patient on the unit
- Transcribes physicians orders and follows through appropriately in their implementation
- Schedules with appropriate departments and/or individuals patient appointment treatments diagnostic procedures etc.
- Maintains neat and orderly bulletin boards. Posts and removes information appropriately in order to keep data current
- Responsible for maintenance of patients charts
- Graphs appropriate data in the patients charts
- Removes selected excess pages from the patients charts and stores properly
- Files and/or staples laboratory and tests results into patients charts (including computer print-outs)
- Checks all patients charts daily for completeness order and proper identity
- Assigns RNs in Orchestrator as applicable
- Performs a variety of duties relating to admission discharge and/or transfer of patients
- Assembles medical charts prepares bed and door tags and Kardex for admission
- Requests from Medical Records the old chart of re-admitted patients
- Relays to other departments relative information concerning admissions transfers or discharges
- Greets new admissions introducing self and orienting patients to call system and physical facilities
- Maintains an up-to-date record of all patients who are discharged deceased or transferred
- Responsible for facilitating communication with health care team
- Assists in the maintenance of par levels of supplies and equipment
QualificationsRequirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Evidence of satisfactory job performance from previous employer and satisfactory references
