Were looking for a Deputy Head Grounds Person to help maintain Dunstall Park Greyhound in top racing condition all year round.

About the role

As Deputy Head Grounds Person youll work alongside the Head Grounds Person to lead motivate and support our dedicated team. Together youll ensure every part of the racecourse from the track and kennels to the surrounding grounds is safe immaculate and ready to host first-class race meetings and events.

This is a hands-on fast-paced role that blends leadership teamwork and technical know-how. Youll take pride in your work thrive in changing conditions and play a key part in keeping racing alive whatever the weather.

What youll be doing:

  • Assist the Head Grounds Person in planning and delivering maintenance programmes for the track and grounds.
  • Prepare and maintain the racing surface before and during race meetings using tractors attachments and specialist equipment.
  • Manage track preparation during adverse weather to ensure racing can continue safely.
  • Maintain grass and non-running areas to a high standard ensuring exceptional presentation for race days and events.
  • Conduct regular checks on track and racing equipment to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of essential materials such as sand salt and diesel.
  • Promote safe working practices in line with company Health & Safety policies.
  • Ensure full compliance with GBGB regulations and maintain the highest standards of greyhound welfare.
  • Support and lead the grounds team demonstrating initiative teamwork and clear communication across departments.

About you

Were looking for someone who brings experience pride and energy to the job. Youll have:

  • Proven experience in grounds or turf management (ideally in racing sports or large venue environments).
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work calmly under pressure.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and a natural ability to work as part of a team.
  • Full clean driving licence.
