SUMMARY:
An intern will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gain foundational understanding of the railroad industry including industry structure and competitive dynamics
- Develop knowledge of assigned territory customer base commodity markets and strategic positioning
- Acquire knowledge of G&Ws processes procedures and company culture
- Learn core business processes and utilize systems essential for Sales & Marketing support
- Conduct basic Customer Relationship Management (CRM) administrative functions and quality assurance testing
- Support process improvement by creating and updating documentation
- Develop and execute project action plans; participate in team assignments
- Build and strengthen a network of professional contacts within departments and across the company
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Proficiency in MS Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook
- Knowledge of CRM Power BI Canva or SharePoint a plus
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management while maintaining objectivity and independence
- Self-starter with a commitment to teamwork
- Strong attention to detail and maintains a high level of organization in all tasks and projects
- Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to ask questions and learn
- Ability to think critically evaluate various options and make decisions
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Masters degree preferably in Business Logistics or another related field.
