Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

Serves as Environmental Health and Safety Officer (EHSO) for Goodman Correctional Institution.
Conducts inspections of buildings grounds and vehicles.
Supervises fire and safety equipment.
Responds to complaints and violations.
Submits required reports and conducts emergency drills.
This position requires mandatory training and availability for duties which may require irregular hours.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Warden.

Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelors degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:
(Or an acceptable equivalency approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

Three (3) years of experience in correctional security military or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above 1 year).
Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
