Job Summary

Witten/Herdecke University (UW/H) is Germanys first privately funded university. It was founded in 1982 and has since established itself as an important educational institution in Germany. It now employs more than 900 staff and has a total of 3500 students enrolled in its faculties of Health and Business and Society in Witten.

We are looking for a new team member to join us as soon as possible. The position is 80% (32 hours per week 0.8 FTE) and is limited to a two-year term with the possibility of extension.

The research associate will work for the WHO Collaborating Centre for Global Child Health at UW/H under the direct supervision of the holder of the Friede Springer Endowed Professorship for Global Child Health. The work will be carried out in an international interdisciplinary environment in close cooperation with WHO/Europe and other national and international partners. The place of work is mainly Witten.

    • Design development and evaluation of digital teaching and learning offerings in the field of health sciences (e.g. e-learning modules blended learning formats digital simulations).
    • Selection of suitable methods of knowledge transfer (microlearning interactive tasks gamification elements).
    • Providing didactic advice to teachers and research associates on the creation of multimedia teaching and learning materials.
    • Adaptation and implementation of educational formats in the health sector in an international particularly European context.
    • Collaboration in European research and development projects (WHO/ Europe) including project coordination and reporting.
    • Conducting training courses and workshops for nurses doctors teachers and multipliers.
    • Ensuring quality standards and a stable user-friendly learning environment with barrier-free access.
    • Evaluation and further development of existing teaching programmes.

Special features:
The position offers the opportunity to actively contribute to the further development of global strategies for improving childrens health and to combine evidence-based approaches in research teaching and practice.

  • Completed university degree in health sciences nursing education instructional design media didactics educational sciences or a comparable field.
  • At least 3-5 years of proven experience in the design and implementation of digital interactive teaching and learning formats (e.g. with Articulate 360).
  • In-depth knowledge of current didactic approaches and digital learning technologies.
  • Experience working on international or European projects in the healthcare sector.
  • Confident use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) e.g. Moodle ILIAS or comparable.
  • Basic technical and legal understanding of digital platforms
  • Very good written and spoken English; knowledge of other European languages is an advantage.
  • Intercultural competence ability to work in a team and an independent and structured working style.
  • Willingness to travel within Europe.
