Job Summary
Certified Athletic Trainer - Substitute
Christiansburg High School
Anticipated Dates: November 8 2025 through February 1 2026
Montgomery County Public Schools has an opening and is accepting applications for a Substitute Certified Athletic Trainer position that is available at Christiansburg High School. It is anticipated that the substitute athletic trainer will be needed from approximately November 8 2025 through February 1 2026.
The Certified Substitute Athletic Trainer is responsible for the examination and treatment of athletes injuries. The trainer works with team doctors and the athletes personal physician to provide a treatment program for athletes who are recovering from injuries and to educate athletes in building their strength to avoid further injury.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree
- Licensed by the Virginia Board of Medicine (must be certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification and hold the ATC credential in order to obtain this licensure)
- Successful completion of the Virginia High School League (VHSL) required courses accessible at to conduct electronic concussion baseline testing
- Knowledge of return to play protocol
- Ability to work with coaches in planning and conducting parent meetings and to conduct head injury education at these meetings
- Must be able to attend seasonal meetings conducted by the Supervisor of Physical Education
- Possess effective recordkeeping skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents students and school administrators
- Ability to motivate students
- Ability to be dependable and punctual
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer
- Current CPR certification
PAY RATE: $160 per day
FLSA:Non-Exempt
