Duty Days: 260 Days

Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Grade: A07

Qualifications:

College hours high school diploma or GED

Texas Drivers License

Experience in custodial services

Experience in equipment and cleaning supplies

Excellent staff communication and conflict resolution skills

Proficient in computers and ability to utilize the software used by the department

General management supervision

Knowledge in planning and establishing work standards and methods

Ability to evaluate and schedule personnel

Physically able to lift 50 pounds

Fluent in English and Spanish (oral and written)

Primary Purpose:

Maintain the physical school facilities in a condition of operating excellence cleanliness and safety so that full educational use of the buildings can be obtained.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Establishes and administers schedules and procedures for the regular ongoing custodial care of all district facilities.
  2. Supervises and motivates all custodial staff workers.
  3. Maintains an appropriate inventory of custodial supplies and equipment.
  4. Maintains schedules of work for each individual building and custodial staff including weekend events.
  5. Establishes and supervises summer cleaning programs and schedules.
  6. Works with the Maintenance Department in establishing guidelines for the division of responsibility for minor in-school projects and emergency repairs.
  7. Inspects assigned buildings weekly and more often if necessary to ensure department standards are being met.
  8. Recommends purchasing of custodial supplies and materials.
  9. Works with Head Custodians to resolve personnel issues.
  10. Coordinate with district Reservations group on all after hours event or campus rental needs.
  11. Communicates with campus staff regarding Operations needs and information.
  12. Delivery of custodial supplies and equipment as needed to the campuses.
  13. May be required to work alternate work schedules.
  14. Required for on call services on alternate weekends.
  15. Is available on short notice for emergency or overtime work.
  16. Provides campus level training and support in Operational matters as necessary.
  17. Attend professional development.
  18. Emphasize the importance of safety and provide staff with monthly safety training including the proper use of PPE.
  19. Coordinates with the Director in recruiting employment evaluations and discharge of staff.
  20. Approves overtime and provides documentation to department payroll clerk.
  21. Works with Supervisor & Trainer on staff interviews.
  22. Review and approve weekly campus supply requests.
  23. Maintain historical records of department work orders reports and disciplinary documentation.
  24. Coordinates with the Director on Long Range Facility Planning and Bond Project programs.

Equipment Used:

Lightweight truck van computer and various custodial equipment.

Working Conditions:

Continual walking standing climbing bending reaching lifting and carrying. Maintain emotional control under stress. Able to work flexible schedule normally evening hours. Frequent district wide travel.
