Position Overview & Responsibilities
Responsible for developing and providing specialized research-based instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. Also responsible for evaluating and assessing student progress against instructional objectives and following state mandated due process procedures and functions. Start date: January 5 2026
FTE: 1.0
Schedule: January 5 2026 - March 16 2026Monday-Friday7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. plus an additional four hours of paid time for flex conferences the weeks of February 9th and an additional four hours for February 12th for afternoon/evening conferences. Plus potential for additional day of training/orientation time in December 2025.
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelors degree in education and required teaching certificate in Special Education as required by the State of Minnesota specific content knowledge training or job experience required before appointment and successful student teaching. Dual licensure preferred but not required.
Assignments
Special education teachers work by district assignment and may be moved between buildings and/or programs based on student needs location of certain programs student count(s) and applicable licensure; however this position is expected to mainly work at the primary school with Kindergartners.
Salary & Benefits
Wages: Long-Term Substiute Certified Staff Rate withappropriatePELSBsubject area Certification (or other Tier 3 or 4 license with Out of Field Placement permission) from PELSB: $249.55/day. $175/day only with short-call substitute teaching license. Additional restrictions apply with short-call substitute licenses also.
Benefits: Fully certified teachers with assignments in their licensure area (or OFP) in assignments longer than 30 days are entitled to District Contribution at theFull-time (1.0 FTE)benefit level. No benefits available with short-call substitute license.Earned Safe and Sick Time (ESST)will be provided as required by law for either license type.
