Project Architect (Student Housing & Higher Education Studio)

With 170 employees Lawrence Group offers architecture interior design landscape architecture furniture procurement and graphic design services to a wide variety of clients including housing hospitality healthcare academic and retail.

Lawrence Group is seeking Project Architects to assist with our growing Higher Education project needs in our St. Louis office.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architectural design project management and a proven track record of delivering successful projects in the student housing and higher education markets. They will play a key role in working on the project team and ensuring the successful execution of projects from concept through completion.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the design and development of student housing and higher education projects from concept through construction administration ensuring adherence to project timelines budgets and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their goals and requirements and translate them into innovative design solutions that exceed expectations.
  • Collaborate with project teams including architects designers engineers and consultants to ensure effective communication coordination and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct site visits assessments and analysis to inform design decisions and ensure compliance with building codes regulations and industry standards.
  • Prepare and present design concepts drawings renderings and presentations to clients stakeholders and project teams.
  • Lead the preparation of construction documents specifications and bid packages and coordinate with contractors and vendors during the construction phase.
  • Monitor project progress budgets and schedules and proactively identify and address any issues or risks that may impact project outcomes.
  • Foster a creative and collaborative work environment mentor junior staff and contribute to the continuous improvement of architectural processes and practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends technologies and best practices related to hospitality design sustainability and building performance.

Qualifications:

Bachelors or Masters degree in architecture from an accredited institution.

Licensed Architect with 5-10 years of experience in design and architecture preferred.

Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects from concept to completion.

Proficiency in Revit SketchUp Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant design software.

Strong design sensibility and a portfolio showcasing innovative and creative student housing and higher education projects.

Excellent communication presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients consultants and project teams.

Proven leadership abilities with experience leading project teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Knowledge of building codes regulations and standards related to higher education design as well as sustainable design principles and practices.

Strong problem-solving skills attention to detail and the ability to think critically and analytically.

LEED accreditation and/or other relevant certifications are a plus.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position may lead and mentor staff if assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment with hybrid schedule capability. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers.

Physical Demands

This position requires no minimum ability to lift bend or stand.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary.

Travel

Moderate travel is expected for this position.
