Job Title:Cashier
Reports to:Store Manager Assistant Manager Floor Manager
Status:Non-Exempt
This position is located in Madison SD. Most shifts will be evenings/weekends.
Summary
The cashier is responsible for providing positive and friendly customer service. The cashier will operate a cash register to total customers purchases and accept payments verifying all prices and quantities are accurate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet all customers with a smile and friendly attitude
- Record prices subtotal taxable items and total purchases on a cash register
- Collect acceptable forms of payment from customers and make change for cash transactions
- Verify proper identification when accepting checks for purchases of tobacco and/or alcohol (if applicable) and for lottery sales
- Verify and process customers merchandise returns or refunds
- Maintain knowledge of weekly ad
- Review price sheets to note price changes and sale items
- Maintain a neat and clean work space
- Fill pop coolers tobacco and candy displays
- Promote Lewis initiatives and represent Lewis in a positive manner to our customers and communities
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required (or in progress)
- Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly
- Excellent communication skills and problem solving abilities
- Basic math and computer skills
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand and remain stationary for long periods of time
- Must be able to constantly operate a cash register
- Ability to lift/move items up to 10 lbs constantly up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally with or without accommodation
