Overview
The Pediatric Teaching program along with the PICU and pediatric subspecialists are the home for the Pediatric Primary Care residency as well as the pediatric rotations for all UNC medical students. As such we need to fulfill our ACGME-required task of dissemination of scholarly activity. This position is a research assistant to help with ongoing pediatric research projects. Goals for the department: 1) Improve the scholarly output of the Pediatrics department by providing assistance with data collection for research projects 2) Partner with local universities to recruit undergraduate students to serve as interns. This will help facilitate health careers for members of our community especially those who are first generation college students - who can be future health care providers for Cone Health. This internship position is a time-limited temporary position with a start date and orientation on 1/26/26. The total number of hours that an intern can work during this timeframe is 250 hours. Responsibilities
- Work with Pediatric faculty on scholarly projects including research and QI
- Help collect data in EPIC to support scholarly projects
- Using the basics of research design work with faculty on project development
- Assist in writing manuscripts or assembling posters for scholarly projects

Qualifications
| EDUCATION: |
- Junior senior or graduate student with a minimum 3.3 GPA.
- Degree majors in biology physiology psychology public health and/or intention to apply for medical school
|
| EXPERIENCE: |
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with research is helpful but not a minimum requirement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn.
- Respectful of cross-cultural differences and aligned with Cone Healths values
