Receives direction from Nurse Manager Physician Team Lead and Registered Nurses. Is supervised by registered nurses and physicians. Works cooperatively with members of the nursing staff physicians managers and support staff. Interacts professionally with patients and treats them with dignity and respect.
Position Overview: (Major Functions and Non-Essential Functions):
The procedural support assistant is an integral member of the procedural team and assists with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or physician in the Department of Pain Medicine. The procedural assistant provides patient support and follows through with the designated plan of action as directed by the physician. The procedural assistant is responsible for the care handling and processing of pain medicine procedural equipment and turnover of the procedure room(s). The procedural assistant is responsible for assisting with diagnostic interventional and therapeutic procedures such as Epidural Steroid Injections Genicular blocks Epidural blood patches Spinal Cord Stimulator trials Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMCA) Peripheral Nerve Stimulator placements and trials. The procedural assistant works in the procedural unit in the fluoroscopy suites ultrasound suites and recovery room. The procedural assistant is responsible for operation of the radiofrequency ablation machine as well as the ultrasound machine. They are responsible for setting up the sterile field as well as prepping the patient prior to the procedure. The procedural assistant may be cross trained to work in other areas based at employers discretion. This individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the lifespan appropriately interpret information relative to the patients age-specific needs and be able to communicate data reflective of the patients status.



Qualifications

Minimum Education and/or Experience Required:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. One year of patient care experience required.
Additional Experience and/or Qualifications: (Has Achieved Competency in the Following Areas Job Knowledge and Additional Considerations):
Medical background and 1 year(s) of Pain Medicine experience or clinical procedural experience preferred.
Ability to handle difficult situations and remain calm under stress maintain positive communication during a rapidly changing/dynamic environment. Must be flexible as well as easily adapt to a changing work environment. Must be willing to adjust work schedules in response to department or clinical needs.

Licensure/Certification Required:
Maintains Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) competency. Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
