About the Role

TheCore Assets Portfolio Leader Connectivity SBUwill be responsible for leading a global Engineering Team that is architecting designing developing & validating Software Core Assets for the SBU. Core Assets are reusable software components that are key to rapidly developing Connectivity SBU customer projects and READY products. The portfolio leader will be responsible for developing the Core Assets product roadmap spanning 35 years driving PLM100 process and ensure efficient development of the assets to be used across the SBU. The person will lead a global cross-functional team of software architect project manager software developers testers integrators and process experts and will deliver functional Core Assets every quarter based on the defined roadmap. Core Assets Portfolio Leader will be data-driven and will be responsible for establishing KPIs to monitor software reuse and cost reduction across customer projects & products.

Your Team

The Core Assets Portfolio Leader will lead a global team of 30 engineers across India Romania Germany & Japan. This position will have 6 direct reports in the capacity of Software Architects Principal Engineers and Senior Software Engineers.


What You Will Do

  • Develop market and Core Assets product requirements with a rolling 3-5-year iterative product and feature roadmap
  • Key platform/product lifecycle artifact management: MRD PRD Concept Approval Business Case & portfolio information on TechShelf. Responsible for driving HARMANs PLM100 Process.
  • Lead the global software engineering team across India Romania Germany USA & Poland to oversee an efficient development of Core Assets by deploying HARMANs Agile Software Development practices.
  • Play the role of technology evangelist by strategically defining the technology competency roadmap acquiring talent continuously upskilling driving community activities and defining the culture where teams team pride in the products & code they deliver to the customers.
  • Establish KPIs to monitor software reuse & cost reduction across projects/products and the efficiency of Core Assets.
  • Drive products from concept to launch by acting as a bridge between technical feasibility customer desirability and business viability.
  • Plan and allocate resources for Core Asset Development based on the roadmap.
  • Conduct market intelligence and assess competitive positioning by comparing HARMANs portfolio to competitors products and with SBU strategy & innovation team for product roadmap & priorities.
  • Conduct global and regional market and technology assessments to frame problem statements define market requirements and determine opportunities for investments
  • Support test in the market using structured frameworks and quick iterations
  • Support RFQ/RFI teams to drive product pursuit pipelines
  • Support the definition of product positioning- features and roadmap/main releases support business plans including pricing revenue and status dashboard support the partnership with Product Marketing on value proposition product positioning and sales enablement
  • Co-create go-to-market strategies and effective sales product pitches in close collaboration with product marketing and sales

What You Need

  • Bachelors degree in computer science or comparable experience
  • 15 years of overall professional experience in the domain of automotive software development.
  • 7 years in technical leadership leading a worldwide team of software engineers architects & managers.
  • A relentless focus on doing the basics brilliantly. Drive consistency and ownership through the organization with clear accountability
  • The desire to change the status quo on development methodologies.
  • Understanding of complex ecosystems for Android and Linux-based products
  • Experience building and leading diverse teams incorporating diversity equity and inclusion strategies into the DNA of teams
  • Ability to communicate advanced and complex concepts and ideas persuasively and concisely to all levels

What is Nice to Have

  • Masters degree in computer science or Computer Engineering
  • Relevant experience in AI/ML technologies
  • Strong experience in Automotive Software Development Frameworks.
  • An affinity for business and the ability to run the organization to optimize for agreed-upon financial metrics.
