What its like to be a Driver at the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center
As a Driver for the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center you play a vital role in transporting clients to essential services and programs throughout Hampton Rods for a facility that spans over 20000 square feet dedicated to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. This position involves operating a range of vehicles from sedans to passenger vans and even a 27ft Mobile Clinic. You will also serve as the backup driver for the Mobile Unit ensuring the safe operation and maintenance of the mobile clinic which is key to providing access to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for individuals living with opioid use disorders especially those unable to reach our Hampton Roads Clinic or office-based Opioid Treatment program in Hampton.
Unlike a traditional emergency room the BJ Roberts facility fosters a peaceful and therapeutic atmosphere and as a Driver you will contribute to this mission by ensuring the highest standards of vehicle cleanliness and operational efficiency supporting staff in delivering crucial community-based healthcare services.
What you need to be successful
To excel as a Driver at the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center candidates must possess a blend of essential skills and experience. A minimum of six months of experience driving large vehicles such as buses RVs or mobile units is crucial as is any formal training in mass transport. Strong knowledge of vehicle operation and maintenance is necessary to ensure the mobile clinic remains in optimal working condition. Additionally successful Drivers must demonstrate excellent communication skills to engage effectively with clients and staff during transport. A commitment to safety empathy and customer-focused service is paramount as the role involves supporting individuals facing acute mental health challenges.
Adaptability and problem-solving abilities are also key enabling the Driver to navigate various situations that may arise while providing vital transportation services in a therapeutic environment.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- Six(6) months of experience driving large vehicles (such as buses RVs or mobile units) or formal training in mass transport.
