Job Summary

We are seeking dynamic and highly-motivated individuals to join us in September 2026 as entry level Actuarial Associates. You will join either our Life Insurance and Financial services practice or our General Insurance practice in line with your preference and interests.

Milliman in the UK provides consulting expertise to a variety of clients across the UK Europe and the US including insurance and reinsurance companies Lloyds syndicates ILS fund managers asset managers investment banks and regulatory and public sector bodies. Our unique blend of sound actuarial technical knowledge extensive research experience and front-line actuarial products and tools make us a leader in life and general insurance consulting. We work with our clients on a range of actuarial and insurance-related issues including risk and capital management actuarial services reserving capital modelling pricing mergers and acquisition restructuring and actuarial systems.

As an Actuarial Associate you will be working as part of a team focusing on delivering actuarial and analytical solutions to our clients. You should be deadline-driven with the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical aspects of specific client assignments (including running analytics tools and building models) within agreed budgets and timeframes;
  • Process and handle data;
  • Manage day-to-day interaction with and expectations of specific clients;
  • Attend client meetings as required;
  • Assist in the timely production of reports to clients;
  • Understand and comply with your practices risk management processes and procedures;
  • Ensure that for the assignments being managed compliance is fully documented;
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the practices marketing plan;
  • Deliver presentations and produce articles in collaboration with other members of the team;
  • Maintain high standards of technical knowledge and understanding through reading of technical papers participation in appropriate seminars conferences etc.;
  • Disseminate this knowledge and understanding amongst colleagues and where appropriate clients;
  • Provide assistance as and when needed to other team members;
  • Work towards timely qualification as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries;
  • Carry out all tasks within the job holders level of skill and ability.

Qualification

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree at (or predicted to be) 2:1 or above in a numerical subject;

Knowledge:

Essential

  • Good knowledge of Word Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Good understanding of and interest in the UK insurance/reinsurance market

Desirable

  • Good knowledge of VBA Python R SQL or similar;
  • Experience working with large datasets using statistical software;
  • Good understanding of and interest in financial markets
