Position Overview:

As a Metallic Materials Engineer at Mercury Marine you will be responsible for providing engineering support to maintain and improve metallic parts and processes for current products and new product introductions.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide materials characterization for engineering inquiries of metallic components.

  • Through consultation with stakeholders determine the extent of testing required level of urgency and the most cost and time effective manner to achieve the stated goals.

  • Provide expert guidance to design engineering manufacturing sourcing quality and purchasing through analysis of process development samples to assess production readiness.

  • Perform production qualification work for externally sourced components.

  • Support sourcing initiatives such as qualification of new vendors processes and materials.

  • Provide new product material and processing recommendations of aluminum carbon steel stainless steel brass and bronze alloys.

  • Support the adoption of new materials and processes by leading the technical data collection and risk/reward analysis needed to make those decisions.

  • Record results conclusions and recommendations in clear concise and timely reports.

  • As needed present the results of your work to cross-functional internal stakeholders and to representatives of the external supply chain.

  • Operation calibration and basic maintenance of all materials laboratory equipment including both destructive and non-destructive methods of inspection.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Materials Science Engineering Metallurgical Engineering or related field required.

  • 1 year of experience or prior internship / co-op experience in a materials laboratory

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with metallurgical testing methods and procedures.

  • Strong working knowledge of metallic materials selection fabrication processes manufacturing processes manufacturing sequences quality systems and interpretation of technical drawings and specifications.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $72000 - $115300 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills relevant experience business needs and geographic addition to base pay this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus program. At Brunswick it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidates qualifications and the business context.
