About the role:
Paraway Pastoral Company is seeking a Head Stockperson to join our team at Clonagh Station in the southern gulf region near Cloncurry.
Covering more than 210000 hectares Clonagh runs a large-scale crossbred breeding and trading operation. With a mix of open downs country and river frontage secure water and well maintained infrastructure its a chance to be part of one of Australias premier northern station operations.
The Clonagh compound includes comfortable living quarters a staff kitchen and recreation club and horse-riding facilities. Clonagh is centrally located in the gulf region making weekend campdrafting and other social events a favourite for staff.
Were looking for an experienced and capable Head Stockperson taking a lead role in the day-to-day livestock operations and supporting the Station Manager in delivering safe productive and efficient outcomes.
As Head Stockperson youll lead a team of station hands ensuring livestock work is carried out to a high standard and in line with our animal welfare safety and production goals. Youll take pride in developing your team planning work ahead of time and contributing to the smooth running of the station.
Key Responsibilities
Lead supervise and train a team of station hands during all livestock and general station activities
Coordinate mustering programs yard work and stock handling to ensure animal welfare and safety standards are met
Contribute to our 50-mare horse breeding program for the Northern region ensuring the development and maintenance of a high-quality well-handled horse herd to meet station and operational requirements.
Maintain accurate records of stock movements and treatments
Operate and maintain plant machinery and vehicles safely and effectively
Support the Station Manager with planning communication and team development
Contribute to a positive respectful team culture and set the standard for professional conduct
What Youll Bring
Proven experience in a similar role within a large-scale cattle operation
Strong leadership and communication skills with a genuine interest in developing others
Sound livestock handling and husbandry knowledge
Ability to plan and prioritise work safely and efficiently
Competence in operating and maintaining motorbikes horses and station machinery
A proactive approach reliability and commitment to teamwork
