Job Summary

Denver Health & Hospital (DHHA) in the heart of thriving downtown Denver CO is seeking a full-time Anesthesiologist who is Board Certified/Board Eligible in Anesthesiology to join our team. Candidate can be Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatric Anesthesiology as well. The successful candidate will be joining a group of 17 physicians with 24/7 in-house coverage. Call on average is 2-4 nights/month with back-up call averaging 2-4 nights/month. This is an academic position with teaching and supervision over a mix of residents CRNAs and medical students.


DHHA has been certified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level I Adult Trauma Center and a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center. DHHA offers comprehensive surgical obstetric medical and psychiatric care as well as emergency ambulatory and diagnostic services. With 525 licensed beds Denver Health Medical Center is one of the states busiest hospitals with more than 26000 admissions annually. DHHA is an affiliate hospital of the University of Colorado School of Medicine and all DH faculty will have an academic appointment through the school of medicine.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitors patients before during and after anesthesia and counteract adverse reactions or complications.
    (20%)
  • Administers anesthetic or sedation during medical procedures using local intravenous spinal or caudal methods.
    (20%)
  • Provides and maintains life support and airway management and help prepare patients for emergency surgery.
    (10%)
  • Records type and amount of anesthesia and patient condition throughout procedure.
    (10%)
  • Examines patient obtains medical history and use diagnostic tests to determine risk during surgical obstetrical and other medical procedures.
    (15%)
  • Coordinates administration of anesthetics with surgeons during operation. Similarly confers with other medical professionals to determine type and method of anesthetic or sedation to render patient insensible to pain.

    (15%)
  • Determines when patients have recovered or stabilized enough to be sent to another room or ward or to be sent home following outpatient surgery. (10%)


Education:

  • Doctorate Degree Graduation from an Accredited Medical School Required and


Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years directly related experience Required


Licenses:

  • MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles procedures and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
  • Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications listening and social skills.
  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds skill levels and value systems.
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Computer skills required.
