Job Summary

SUMMARY:

The Adult Day Training Lead is a designated representative of the Adult Day Training Center and is responsible for maintaining a high standard of quality services. This individual is responsible for ensuring all aspects of the programs meet ethical legal and professional standards and promote optimal client progress. This individual is responsible for directly supervising instructional personnel assigned to the Key Training Center sites.

Serves as advisor to the day program staff on all matters related to the welfare of participants risk management staff development and quality assurance (programmatic and contractual).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Leads Instructors and Instructor Assistants (to include all workshop groups volunteer groups clubs and community integration). Evaluate and give feedback as needed to personnel.
  2. In conjunction with the Day Services Director assumes responsibility for the organization and arrangement of the groups to maximize supervision effective training flow and space utilization.
  3. Monitor programming and training procedures for all activities. Assist in handling of behavioral issues as needed and consults with Day Services Director regarding behavioral (acquisition and reduction) issues.
  4. Represent the Adult Day Training Program at Support Plan meetings for all those receiving Life Skills 3 services. Participates in all meetings as needed.
  5. Coordinates with the Day Services Director and secretary specific details regarding staff call outs and transportation. Overseeing the ordering and distributes supplies / equipment as needed.
  6. Leads individual training provided by instructors through observations consultation and review of programs and implementation plan. Provides in-service training and direction to instructional staff in the program through staff meetings and other in-service programs as required.
  7. Conducts monthly fire drills and maintenance of related records.
  8. Ensures all participants at the Key Center areas receive a meaningful day activity and goals are being addressed.
  9. Keep Day Services Director informed of staff and client issues regarding habits personnel matters and matters related to service delivery.
  10. Assists in arranging appropriate personnel coverage in all areas of the Day Program. Ensures staffing ratio are maintained. Coordinates activities with Day Services Director for a meaningful day.
  11. Maintains Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on all products used in the Day Program. Ensure that all staff follow safety procedures.
  12. Oversee maintenance issues and custodial care of the campus. Ensures that buildings are properly secured and fire/health codes are followed. Follow up with the Day Services Director regarding any ongoing maintenance issues.
  13. In conjunction with Day Services Director and Program Operations Director assures that all building/work areas used for service programs are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) particularly as it relates to a barrier free environment.
  14. Actively participates in other meetings as directed such as Safety Committee QSI meetings support plan meetings new admission meeting parent forums etc.
  15. Performs other essential duties as required or assigned.

MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leads subordinates leads (Instructor and Instructor Assistants) who supervise client attending the ADT.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Associate degree vocational rehabilitation special education occupational therapy psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university preferred. Years of experience may be substituted for college education.

Three years experience in rehabilitation or in an educational or vocational setting for developmentally disabled persons is required. One years experience in a Lead capacity preferred.

Certification in Behavior Analysis is preferred. Must be able to become certified in First Aid/CPR and T.A.C. T. (Therapeutic Approaches in Crisis Training).

Valid Florida drivers license with a safe driver rating.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to deal courteously tactfully and efficiently with program participants staff members and the general public.

Emotional stability and maturity with a genuine interest in working with program participants.

Capable of working flexible hours/day if needed.

Ability to become certified in Therapeutic Approaches in Crisis Training (TACT).

A thorough knowledge of behavior analysis and its practical application.

Willingness to comply with in-service training or other mandates.

Knowledge of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Most possess good organizational and management skills.

Knowledge of APD regulations applicable to the developmentally disabled.

While performing the duties of this job the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions; is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
