The Data Center Community is looking for an extraordinary individual with proven and tested leadership and management skills as a leader in our data center operations organization in Covington GA and future expansions as a Data Center Operations (DCO) Cluster Manager.

Data Center Operations Cluster Manager is one of our most senior management roles in the data center this role you will be responsible for leading a large organization managing department heads who own data center infrastructure including the operational availability of network and server systems at scale.

The pace scale and growth of Amazons data center platform will challenge you. At this level Amazon is unique in that we seek experienced senior leaders who have evolved to be highly strategic in their approach to managing their business unit yet understand how to lead large teams by example who will not hesitate to roll up their sleeves when tactical needs dictate it.

The ideal candidate for this role will understand data center IT infrastructure and Amazon Web Services and understand how the two coexist. If this understanding is contextual you will be served well by your experience.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of Data Center Managers (3-9 front-line managers depending on location) and 75-150 hourly associates within Regional Data Centers.
- Attainment of organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety security availability scaling and efficiency in support of our data center operations.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and procedures.
- Accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals.
- Strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; resolve problems; and address staffing needs.
- Obsess over team learning and development both from a technical/functional and soft skills (critical thinking emotional intelligence and adaptability) development perspective including mentoring and training.

- Develop improve and share operational best practices across the globe.
- Hiring managing and developing the operations management team including data center managers and data center operations technicians.
- Planning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data center build-outs new colocation build-outs AWS data center expansions and colocation expansions including the network and server rack infrastructure to facilitate the daily operations.
- Experience in successful in-sourcing and/or outsourcing specific task balancing internal skillsets with frugality.
- Continuous improvement of operational processes procedures methods and tools.

A typical day at AWS is that there is no typical day the business is constantly changing and as a leader in this space you daily involves helping solve large scale problems. This position is both working with global partners and managing local leaders so spending time between both spaces daily is a must. - 4 years of technical team management experience
- Experience with fiber optic and copper cabling standards testing equipment & troubleshooting methodologies
- Experience in defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics
- Knowledge of information technology infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms storage server platforms server components network devices technologies and architectures IT service delivery principles and best practices
- 4 years of data center or mission critical facilities (example: hospital military facility public safety facility etc.) and on-call support for data center facilities mission critical plants or production facilities experience.

- Bachelors degree in science technology engineering or mathematics (STEM) or experience in a relevant industry working within technology teams
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts and best practices
- Knowledge and/or experience of Safety Physical and IT Security Logistics Power Cooling & Facilities Engineering

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $130800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $292700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
