Position Overview
We are seeking an emerging Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to support our continued expansion and increasingly complex financial operations. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on cash flow forecasting job costing financial modeling and strategic planning. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented analytical and thrives in a growth-stage environment where adaptability and initiative are key.
Financial Management & Reporting
Develop and implement financial models to forecast track and analyze cash flow profitability and work in progress.
Lead budgeting forecasting and financial planning processes.
Prepare accurate and timely GAAP-based monthly financial statements and management reports.
Tax Strategy & Compliance
Oversee all tax-related activities including income tax and sales tax compliance planning and audits across multiple states and Canada.
Ensure full adherence to applicable federal state and local tax regulations.
Contracts & Risk Management
Review and manage subcontract agreements and customer contracts to ensure financial terms and cash flow are optimized.
Support negotiations on key financial clauses to minimize risk and maintain compliance.
ERP System & Data Reporting
Serve as the subject matter expert for the companys ERP system.
Develop and manage dashboards and reports that provide actionable business insights.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
Oversee working capital management cash utilization and strategic investments.
Manage treasury operations optimizing returns on excess cash while balancing growth and risk.
Payroll & Benefits
Support payroll and benefits administration across a multi-state workforce.
Ensure accuracy compliance and timely processing of payroll and 401(k) activities.
Accounting & Audit Support
Support accounting staff with project accounting cost tracking and revenue recognition.
Serve as a primary point of contact during financial audits.
Strengthen internal controls and fraud prevention measures.
Oversee indirect cost management insurance and software licensing.
Grants & Strategic Funding
Research and secure grants for manufacturing R&D and workforce training initiatives.
Required:
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
10 years of experience in accounting forecasting and job costing
Strong knowledge of GAAP tax compliance and financial reporting
Hands-on experience with ERP systems (Acumatica experience preferred)
Proven analytical problem-solving and leadership skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Preferred:
CPA certification
Previous experience as a Controller Assistant Controller or in public accounting
Background in manufacturing automation or project-based industries
Experience with contract negotiation and risk management
Demonstrated initiative to grow into a strategic leadership role
