CVM Communications Manager
The Communications Manager works in partnership with the director of Marketing and Communication to further the College of Veterinary Medicines marketing and communication goals through writing and the management of digital and traditional communication collateral web content design and multimedia projects. This position is one of the primary professional writers for the College. A qualified candidate must be an extremely proficient writer and content editor must be digitally literate must be able to generate and edit web content to preserve brand voice and consistency and must be able to adapt his/her/their writing style to fit genre and multiple addition candidates must possess high-quality project-management and customer-service skills have a solid proficiency in design and have the ability to interview subjects and generate creative and frequent stories for various social media communications and web content. Candidates also should have experience and/or knowledge of multimedia projects content strategy and web usability/accessibility. Knowledge of medical and/or scientific terminology is desired. It is expected that the candidate stays ahead of emerging digital communication and social media trends to ensure that the Colleges communication efforts are relevant and effective. Through teamwork collaborates with other employees to achieve goals and objectives. This position has the ability to work a hybrid schedule as the needs of the Team and the College permit. No less than 4 days in-office is required.
Serves as a professional writer and project manager for the College (CVM). Is responsible for telling the Colleges stories to multiple audiences and through multimedia. Must be comfortable with a content management system.
Writes and generates frequent stories and newsletters for the web all social media and HTML email campaigns. Conducts interviews with students faculty staff alumni and clients to provide in-depth content for all communication collateral.
Provides web content and content strategy to ensure that information is strategically current accurate and properly written and formatted.
Designs approximately half of the communication collateral produced by the department for multiple audiences.
Familiar with print procurement specifications project scheduling and vendor relations it relates to the Colleges print collateral.
Edits and proofreads all communication collateral. Is responsible for assuring that the Colleges style guide and brand standards are followed.
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Journalism Telecommunications or Public Relations; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in public and media relations composing editing and publication production news broadcasting and print media and/or marketing advertising and creative services; graphic design; word processing; desktop publishing; web design; presentation; spreadsheet and/or database software; public presentation; or radio production; or computer programming/technology; experience managing content for social media channels; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
