Childcare Associate Part-time Evenings

Childrens Aid Society seeks a Childcare Associate to assist students aged 7yrs - 12yrs residing at Cornerstone Youth Home from 4:00 pm - 12:00 am 2-3 evenings per week (Sunday - Thursday)

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct care and supervision for children and youth at the Cornerstone Youth Home.
• Support daily routines activities and life skills development.
• Establish a caring trusting relationship with children and youth serving as a positive role model.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individual care plans.
• Assist with emotional and behavioral support helping youth manage their feelings and behaviors in a constructive way.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times adhering to organizational policies and procedures.
• Document observations and report any concerns or incidents to supervisors as needed.
• Facilitate recreational educational and creative activities to engage and inspire youth.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent; a degree or diploma in social services child development or related field is an asset.
• Experience working with children or youth particularly those in crisis is preferred.
• Strong communication interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to remain calm patient and empathetic in stressful situations.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• A criminal background check and a health physical are required
