Job Summary

Overview and Responsibilities

The WisTech Open Production Assistant supports the efforts of open educational resources (OER) across the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS). For more information about WisTech Open visit position may be based anywhere within the state of Wisconsin to support the OER initiatives of the WTCS. Depending on the candidates location the role has the potential to be fully remote with minimal travel required for essential in-person meetings. If the selected candidate resides within Chippewa Valley Technical Colleges (CVTC) 11-county district the position will adhere to CVTCs remote work policy guidelines. Work placement remote and on-site is determined based upon the needs of the College and is subject to CVTC remote work policy and specific department workplace expectations.

The WisTech Open Production Assistant supports the development formatting and delivery of open educational resources (OER) by working closely with project teams to ensure consistency accessibility and quality. Responsibilities include migrating content into Pressbooks providing technical training on platforms like Pressbooks and Hypothesis supporting the chapter and peer review process and contributing to media development. The position also assists in updating web content testing interactive tools and compiling usage data to inform decision-making. This role requires strong attention to detail communication skills and proficiency with educational publishing tools and processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Migrate and structure educational content in Pressbooks and other platforms.
  • Ensure consistent formatting and metadata across digital and print-ready versions.
  • Perform light proofreading and quality review of content for clarity grammar and layout.
  • Provide training and support on the use of Pressbooks and Hypothesis for faculty and development teams.
  • Serve as liaison to external audiobook production platform vendors and print publishers.
  • Assist with the development and integration of multimedia assets including audiobooks videos and instructional images.
  • Test interactive learning activities and modules to ensure technical functionality and accessibility compliance.
  • Assist with chapter-level and peer review coordination and preparation.
  • Support website content updates uploads and testing.
  • Document content workflows and contribute to process improvement for publishing pipelines.
  • Compile project data and usage reports to support evaluation planning and continuous improvement of OER development processes.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors editors and project teams to support collaborative development and timely delivery.
  • Complete tasks as assigned to meet evolving project goals and deadlines.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Intermediate knowledge of and skills with technology including software programs for communication data collection and decision making including but not limited to Microsoft Office Outlook Word and Excel.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Communications Administrative Assistant Media Production Educational Technology or related field required.
  • Minimum of two years experience in digital publishing instructional media or editorial production.
  • Experience with Pressbooks or similar digital publishing platforms strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with web content management systems audio/video editing tools and collaborative platforms preferred.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and practices for digital content preferred.
