Job Summary
NEEDED: Phlebotomy Technician
LOCATION: 805 Fox Hollow Road Manchester Kentucky 40962
SCHEDULE: 7:00 AM 3:30 PM Monday Thursday 32 hours per week
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Shall have valid certification to practice in the state of Kentucky as a Medical Assistant Laboratory Assistant Emergency Medical Technician or Phlebotomist.
- Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Must show proof of experience with specimen collection packaging and shipment to referral laboratories on resume.
- Knowledge of maintaining appropriate records.
- Experience of working in a correctional setting (preferred)
- Provide three (3) professional letters of reference.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Health Services Manual and Unit Procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein ensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is updated accordingly.
JOB DUTIES:
- Assist the Health Service Administrator (HSA) or his/her designee in the coordination of BOP and Contract Reference Lab contact CLIA re-certification maintenance of equipment and notification of needed supplies.
- Assist the HSA and Clinical Director with writing and implementing policies that deal with the laboratory program.
- Assist the Physician Physician Assistant and/or Nurse with patient flow in a clinic setting by measuring the patients vital signs and weight and scanning laboratory results in the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
- Organize schedule and perform laboratory studies specimen collection and process within the Health Service Unit to include A&O in-processing DNA per procedure vaccine programs and PPD updates.
- Prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the contract or BOP Reference Lab and document per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures. Ensure that lab requests are completed properly and all reports are returned from the contract lab provider notified log results in as received follow up appropriately and file results in lab and medical record.
