Description & Requirements

We are seeking an exceptional highly motivated postdoctoral associate for a joint position between the Melina Claussnitzer and Benjamin Neale laboratories. This position aims to elucidate the fundamental genomic architecture of Type 2 Diabetes at a population scale.

We are seeking a highly creative resourceful and integrative thinker to join our teams contributing to fundamental discoveries in understanding large-scale cellular programs and developing novel computational tools to uncover mechanisms underlying cardiometabolic disease.

The Claussnitzer and Neale laboratories offer a dynamic innovative and interdisciplinary environment. We are committed to hiring an exceptional scientist who will have the opportunity to collaborate with members of both laboratories as well as the broader Broad Institute community.


CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

  • Collaborate with scientists and research associates to make fundamental discoveries about genetic variant to gene to cellular function
  • Integrate multi-modal high-dimensional data sets to infer gene regulatory networks and genetically informed cellular programs
  • Demonstrate scientific creativity and collaboration to expand computational and theoretical capabilities into new applications and identify new research opportunities
  • Train and mentor other lab members
  • Make significant contributions to scientific papers and presentations
  • Contribute to generation of computational models
  • Manage and work with multidisciplinary team to achieve project goals

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ph.D. in Computational Biology Computer Science Physics or related life science field
  • Extensive experience with the analysis of biological data including high-throughput functional genomics assays ideally versatile with multiome data
  • Experience in large scale data analysis a solid understanding of genetics and genomics including epigenomics transcriptomics disease genomics and statistical genetics
  • Strong theoretical background
  • Track record of excellent writing skills and the ability to move projects over the finish line
  • Proven track record of critical scientific thinking multi-tasking ability ability to integrate data from multiple disciplines and strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal influencing and collaboration skills to work in a team-oriented matrix environment and the ability to work through conflicts
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to adapt to and effectively manage changes in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • A passion for science and sense of urgency to find new medicines to benefit patients
