What is The Role
Elastic Finance Team is looking for a highly motivated Indirect Taxes Analyst to join our growing EMEA Indirect Tax team. The candidate will prepare submissions of VAT and indirect tax returns for a number of EMEA jurisdictions. This role involves collaboration with our third-party Indirect Tax vendor for filings as well as finance and tax teams to ensure accurate reporting compliance and timely submissions. The individual will be detailed and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
What You Will Be Doing
- Extract data from NetSuite and other internal systems to support the preparation and filing of periodic VAT returns across EMEA countries.
- Prepare and submit EC Sales Listings (ECSL) and other country-specific reports where applicable.
- Work closely with our outside vendor to ensure timely and accurate VAT return submissions.
- Assist with the preparation of supporting schedules reconciliations and submission packages.
- Review and validate data to ensure accuracy and compliance with local regulations.
- Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations between the VAT returns and general ledger.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with finance and AP/AR teams.
- Maintain clear audit trails and documentation to support VAT filings.
- Process journal entries related to indirect tax where required ensuring accuracy and accurate documentation.
- Prepare VAT payment forecasts to ensure funding and cash flow planning.
- Set up VAT payments in the bank according to local dates and support the team with allocating payments accurately.
- Track and review VAT payments to ensure they are processed on time.
- Assist in detailing tax processes and procedures ensuring they remain up to date.
- Support internal controls and ensure compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements.
What You Bring
- Previous experience in indirect tax compliance within the EMEA region (13 years preferred).
- Proven understanding of VAT rules and regulations across multiple EMEA jurisdictions.
- Strong Excel and data manipulation skills.
- Experience working with NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
- Excellent English communication (written and verbal).
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while collaborating with a distributed team.
- Strong attention to detail organized and a proactive demeanor.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Experience with OSS/IOSS or other international VAT schemes.
- Exposure to e-invoicing requirements in EMEA.
- Experience working within a fast-paced scaling environment.
- Candidate will be working in UK time zone.
