JOB SUMMARY
CrossCountry Freight Solutions is seeking an experienced detail-oriented Diesel Technician to join our team. Their main job duties include running diagnostic tests determining failures and correcting issues. This can include larger jobs of replacing transmissions and third member assemblies. Our Diesel Technicians collaborate with team members to ensure that the equipment is safe and operates efficiently.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Perform thorough DOT inspections and repairs on Company vehicles and machines.ââ
- Use different hand tools and powered equipment such as impact wrenches welding equipment hoists jacks etc. to repair trucks while constantly utilizing safety precautions.â
- Diagnose malfunctions in defective equipment by inspecting and testing using electronic diagnostic equipment and wiring schematics and then efficiently making those repairs.â
- Test drive vehicles to identify problems and to verify that equipment has been repaired properly.â
- Replace parts valves bearings assemblies etc. as needed and repair vehicle cooling and heating systems.
- Utilize knowledge of diesel emissions and diagnostics to accurately repair issues.â
- Ensure parts conform to factory specifications by inspecting and verifying clearances and dimensions.â
- Other duties as assigned.â
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Completion of a certificate program or technical training in mechanics and truck repair preferred.
- At least 1 year or more of professional experience as a diesel technicianââ
- Excellent interpersonal organization logistics math and communication skillsââ
- Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance problemsâ
- Knowledge of applicable federal state and local laws and regulationsâ
- Experienced and proficient working with diagnostic computersâ
- Knowledge of working on trailersâ
- Excellent customer service skillsâ
- Ability to work well with team members in a fast-paced environmentââ
- Knowledge of forklift repair and maintenance is a plusâ
- Commercial Drivers License is a plusâ
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to perform frequent bending twisting climbing squatting crouching and balancing.â
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy equipment parts and freight weighing up to 80 pounds for a distance of up to 20 feet.â
- Must be able to frequently reach objects at waist level or above shoulder height.â
- Must be able to open and close cargo doors and to climb into and out of vehicles.â
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs.â
