The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented and motivated Research Fellow to join the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI) and contribute to Professor Geoff Webbs Australian Laureate Fellowship research project Temporal Analytics for a Complex Dynamic and EverChanging World. You will be responsible for developing new temporal analysis methods implementing software that embodies those methods evaluating those methods writing academic papers applying for research grants and supervising research students and staff.
The Research Fellow will develop temporal analysis algorithms and techniques and design implement test and maintain software/tools embodying those methods. You will prepare and submit grant proposals to external funding bodies. This position will also evaluate methods via experiments benchmarking simulation and/or realworld data.
The successful candidate will have:
A PhD in Statistics Data Science Computer Science Mathematics or a related field with strong emphasis on temporal analytics such as time series classification or a closely related area
Evidence of impactful research with published outputs in peerreviewed journals
Experience in software development (prototyping / production) implementing novel analytical methods
Skills in evaluating and benchmarking methods: designing experiments handling and analysing large and complex datasets
Experience of writing successful grant applications (or clear potential to do so)
Experience of supervising or mentoring research staff or students (or clear potential to do so)
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) ability to collaborate effectively.
