Job Description Summary:


Serves as an education and quality resource to staff caring for burn and injured collaboration with the trauma program manager and other members of the health care team coordinates quality review communication to appropriate stakeholders and processes to ensure event closure for quality and performance issues. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and the standards set forth by the American College of Surgeons/Trauma and the American Burn Association. Maintains a current Ohio Nursing License.


Job Description:


Essential Functions:

  • Complies with quality tracking process to meet verification standards.
  • Communicates and collaborates amongst the interprofessional team; demonstrates open friendly accepting and supportive behaviors with team members.
  • Develops educational resources for physician nursing allied health and external care providers and ensures education objectives are met. Trains others on the essential tools and techniques.
  • Serves as a resource to internal stakeholders regarding the role of trauma/burn care quality expectations and desired outcomes.
  • Evaluates the quality and efficiency of care provision throughout the burn/trauma continuum. Develops strategies to meet compliance with assigned verification standards.
  • Maintains knowledge of current concepts research needs and research priorities related to trauma/burn care.
  • Engages in the workplace community by staying aware of changes participating in data collection or auditing understanding Quality Improvement and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to program.


Education Requirement:

  • BSN required. Masters preferred.
  • Must complete the NCH QIE course within first 2 years of employment.


Licensure Requirement:

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Ohio is required.
  • Valid Ohio drivers license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy and position-specific requirements. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection insurance eligibility driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Childrens Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.


Certifications:

Certification in related field TNCC ABLS or equivalent desirable.


Skills:

  • Understanding of trauma and burn coding.
  • Working knowledge of ACS ABA and other review agency standards.
  • Computer literate. Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Professionally appropriate analytical and organizational skills required.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of the science of quality improvement and associated data tools.
  • Ability to do public speaking and develop lectures.


Experience:

  • Five years of nursing experience.
  • At least one year in pediatric nursing is highly preferred.
  • Nursing experience may include emergency department critical care quality improvement or unit that cares for burn and/or injured children.
