For more information please visit is anon-tenure track faculty position as an instructional assistant professor of physics in the Department of Mathematics and Physics of the University effective Fall 2026. Primary duties will includeteaching 15 semester credit hours (lectures- 3 credit/course and labs - 2credit/course) per semester of introductory lectures and laboratories in Physics and Astronomy for both science and non-science majors. Duties also includeproviding service on departmental university and professional committees and community outreach activities particularly advancing the disciplines and recruitment efforts in the Department of Mathematics and Physics. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
The Department of Mathematics and Physics offers BA BS and MS degrees in Mathematics and BA with a major in Mathematics with grades 7-12 certification and minor degree programs in Applied Physics and Mathematics. The minor in Physics currently consists of 20 SCH 12 of which must be at the advanced level.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold an earned doctorate degree in Physics or in a closely related discipline. ABDs will also be considered but applicants must have earned a doctorate before Fall 2026. We strongly encourage candidates with previous teaching experience in Physics and Astronomy at a similar institution. Experience in outreach and community engagement is preferred.
