The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking an Associate Structural Analysis Engineer (Level 2) with knowledge of stress analysis methods engineering principles certification requirements and collaboration skills to support the Structural Repair Manual (SRM) team based inSeal Beach CA.
As a Structural Analysis Engineer you will collaborate with the structures team within the Service Engineering team to develop stress data to substantiate structural repairs for the SRM. The successful candidate will be skilled in developing repair solutions coordinating with multiple internal and external teams and leading process improvements to ensure high-quality customer support.
The Customer Support SRM team supports all in-service Boeing commercial airplane models including the MD-10 MD-and 787. This role will primarily focus on the 737 SRMs and other models currently in production. Team members tackle a diverse range of challenges across various airplane models and structural sections.
Position Responsibilities:
Performs detailed structural analysis (static and fatigue analyses for primary and secondary structures) to determine structural integrity (margins of safety) using classical techniques and Boeing tools.
Supports SRM development for both metallic and composite structures.
Analyzes and develops substantiation packages for repairs and/or fly-on limits.
Performs review of customer requests and determine the best avenue for resolution.
Works with the team to integrate component-level structural models and perform integrated analysis using finite element methods to develop internal loads and stresses to verify structural integrity with minimal instruction.
Documents structural analyses and data required to show compliance with Boeing customer and regulatory requirements.
Participates in the resolution of technical operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer (internal and external).
The ability to support regular and emergent domestic or international travel to support our customers.
Ability to work on-site 5 days per week.
May be asked to support other programs as needed.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of science from an accredited course of study in engineering.
1 years experience working with composite and/or metallic structures.
1 years of experience with airplane Stress/Structural Analysis (static/fatigue).
1 years of aircraft design and/or repair experience.
1 years of experience with classical hand analysis and FEA software experience.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
2 years of related work experience in stress analysis.
Bachelor of Science degree in one of the following engineering disciplines: Mechanical Civil or Aerospace Engineering.
Experience with Boeing aircraft data (repairs manuals drawings etc.).
Effective communication skills both verbal and writing.
Experience with CSW IAS and other BCA tools or hand analysis methods.
Experience working with and supporting customers (e.g. Airlines Operators Lessors).
Experience in Damage Tolerance analysis.
Experience coordinating with cross-functional subject matter experts (SMEs) from non-structural disciplines.
Willing and able to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally.
