The Production Operator is responsible for operating machinery and equipment in their department to process logs into lumber and other wood products. This role requires attention to safety efficiency and quality control while performing various tasks and maintaining equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules regulations and JSAs.
- Follow safety protocols and report hazards to ensure a safe work environment.
- Learn the safe and efficient operation of each machine assigned.
- Understand and actively apply yourself in the operator work-up program to advance through training and experience.
- Serve as a relief operator for a wide variety of functions machinery and workstations.
- Keep work area clean and organized and clean all additional areas as assigned.
- Maintain acceptable production levels.
- Duties vary by location.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to work various shifts days and overtime as needed.
- Capable of following instructions and communicating effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
- Must possess attention to detail and a commitment to quality control.
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test post-offer pre-employment physical and background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in manufacturing or mill environment.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid drivers license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS- Production
Ability to sit and/or stand for shift reach with hands and arms stoop squat bend at the waist kneel walk varying distance and climb stairs.
- Bend at waist frequent
- Twist upper body frequent
- Stoop occasional
- Lift above waist height frequent depending on machine center
- Lift over 50 lbs. frequent depending on machine center
- Repetitive use of hands constant
- Stand/walk constant
- Sit occasional
- Vision near and far correctable; depth perception
- Hearing preferred for awareness of surrounding machinery mobile equipment emergencies
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to tolerate all weather elements loud conditions airborne particles (sawdust).
