Job Summary

Griffith Universitys School of Medicine and Dentistry is seeking a talented and driven Research Fellow (Grade 2) to join our dynamic Health Economics research group. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact research across key areas such as cancer and infectious diseases while also supporting the groups growing profile in national and international health economics research.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Conduct high-quality research aligned with the strategic priorities of the Health Economics research group.
  • Publish in leading international peer-reviewed journals and support research translation efforts.
  • Prepare competitive research grant applications and ethics submissions.
  • Provide research training mentorship and supervision to junior staff and higher degree research (HDR) candidates.
  • Contribute to teaching activities in health economics as required.
  • Manage research outputs including reports presentations and academic publications.

What we can offer
This is a fixed term (until 31 December 2027) full time position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan) location.

As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations. Griffith Universitys campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul Yuggera Jagera Turrbal Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary for a Research Fellow (Grade 2) will range from $113226 - $134460 per annum 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will range from $132474 - $157318 per annum.


Qualifications :

The successful candidate will have: 

  • A PhD in Economics or a closely related discipline or equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in health economics research ideally in areas such as cancer or infectious diseases.
  • High-level analytical skills with proficiency in working with Australian national health datasets (e.g. NHDH) dynamic economic modelling econometrics propensity matching and mapping health-related quality of life onto utility instruments.
  • Proven experience in research grant writing literature reviews and preparation of research ethics applications.
  • A strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals.
  • Advanced skills in Excel R SAS SPSS and STATA.
