Description
SUMMARY: The Weigh Master is responsible for the daily operations and the workflow of the scale house. The Weigh Master is primarily responsible for weighing trucks entering and leaving providing information and directing customers in a professional and courteous manner operating a computer for data collection.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for operating scales according to applicable laws rules and company policy.
- Responsible for tracking how many various types of trucks are inside the Mill at all times.
- Perform data entry tasks and generate scale tickets with speed and accuracy.
- Operate a truck scale indicator and weigh trucks accurately.
- Effectively and professionally solicit information from internal/external customers (both in person and over the phone) as well as respond to their need for information and assistance with clear and concise verbal directions.
- Maintain a clean functional and organized work office/scale-house. This includes but is not limited to the scale house the computer and printer.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in fast pace environment. Must be detailed oriented. Follow Safety and operational policies and procedures
- Maintain records/log sheets that allow reconciliation in the event of discrepancy between customer and accounts payable.
- Must be able to accurately complete incident reports involving the Scale House and/or the Weigh Master.
- Special projects and assignments as business dictates.
- Duties may be expanded and additional duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent and at least three (3) months related experience. .
- Must be able to read and understand a standard Bill of Lading Form.
- Must be able to read and write simple sentences and speak to others in English.
- Must be able to add subtract multiply and divide numbers.
- Intermediate skill level with the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form.
- Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple written or oral instructions.
- Employees will be required to learn how to use various Company software packages.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- While performing the duties of this Job the employee is required to:
- Sit at a desk for long periods of time
- Frequently use hands to type on a computer keyboard answer the telephone and file documents
- Frequently walk within the office and occasionally the distance of a large manufacturing facility
- Occasionally reach with hands and arms above the shoulders
- Vision abilities required are close vision and depth perception
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The noise level within the office is usually quiet and the temperature is regulated to be comfortable.
- Occasionally the employee is exposed to the Mill work environment which can be hot and the noise level is loud.
Pay Transparency: The starting hourly rate for this opportunity is $22.00. Other rewards may include quarterly bonus eligibility which is based on company and individual performance.
