Position: Welding & Joining Technology Instructor
Location: Athens/Elbert Campuses
Department: Division of Business Industry & Technology
Reports to: Program Chair & Divisional Academic Dean
Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. State of Georgia benefits package.

Responsibilities:
- Under general supervision instruct students in welding and joining technology skill areas.
- Follow state standards in developing program and course outlines goals and objectives.
- Develops syllabi to meet program and school objectives.
- Evaluates students progress in attaining goals and objectives.
- Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares required budget requests.
- Maintains program certification requirements as appropriate.
- Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
- Attends staff development training workshops seminars and conferences.
- Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
- Responds in a timely manner to administrative requests.
- Meets with students staff members and other educators to discuss students instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students.
- Assists with recruitment retention and job placement efforts.
- Maintains program certification requirements as appropriate.
- Demonstrates strong time management and organization skills.
- Demonstrates effective written and oral communication.
- Contributes to the writing of accreditation and assessment reports
- Demonstrates general computer knowledge (Microsoft Word Excel)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma in Welding & Joining Technology from an accredited college or technical institution.
- Three (3) years work experience in a position related to welding and joining technology.
- Blueprint reading capabilities.
- Experience with gas-metal arc welding shielded metal arc welding and gas tungsten arc welding.
- Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates degree from an accredited college or technical institution.
- Three (3) seven (7) years of work experience in a position related to welding and joining technology including work experience in pipe welding.
- Experience with fluxed-core arc welding oxy-fuel cutting pipe welding plasma arc cutting and carbon arc gouging.
- American Welding Society Certification.
- Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.
- Previous online teaching or training experience including the use of video capture tools.
