Job Summary
This hybrid role is responsible for performing a wide range of residential and light commercial HVAC diagnostic repair and replacement services with a consultative sales approach. The key is to build trust by educating our customers on their system and offering solutions that provide long-term value.
If the HVAC business demands are low this role would support other trades including plumbing carpentry painting emergency mitigation and general maintenance work. The daily work varies based on client requirements and business needs.
Essential Functions
Diagnose repair and replace residential HVAC systems (furnaces AC units heat pumps ductless systems)
Perform routine HVAC maintenance and tune-ups
Install or replace thermostats and smart controls
Complete general handyman tasks such as light plumbing carpentry and painting
Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
Ensure all work is completed to code safety standards and customer expectations
Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with clients
Maintain tools equipment and company vehicle in good working condition
Assist in cleaning and maintaining all job sites
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent desired
Completion of an accredited HVAC technical training program or apprenticeship preferred
3 years of hands-on experience in residential HVAC diagnosis repair and installation
EPA Section 608 Certification (Type I and Type II)
Proven experience with complete system replacements (furnace AC heat pump ductwork thermostats etc.)
Strong understanding of HVAC system designs layouts and operation for residential applications
Must be willing to obtain a Minnesota
Technical Skills:
Ability to troubleshoot diagnose and repair:
Gas and electric furnaces
Central air conditioning units
Heat pumps
Mini-splits and ductless systems
Thermostats and smart controls
Ductwork and airflow issues
Skilled in soldering brazing and refrigerant line work
Able to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics
Understand HVAC codes and safety procedures
Knowledge of airflow calculations refrigerant cycle and load calculation
Mental and Physical Requirements
Manual dexterity and excellent hand-eye coordination
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and lift at least 50 pounds regularly
Comfortable working in attics crawlspaces and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Able to climb ladders bend crouch and work in tight spaces as needed
Math skills like being able to do mental arithmetic quickly are also desirable
Willingness to utilize appropriate protective clothing and accessories
Must possess valid drivers license.

Detail-oriented with good documentation and job-tracking habits
Must have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record
Must pass a background check and drug screening
Willingness to be on-call or work occasional evenings/weekends (if applicable)
