Job Details:
The Network Team within IT Services is hiring an infrastructure engineer to focus on UW-Whitewaters network with a strong focus on our Citrix NetScaler environment. The successful candidate will work with other members of the Information Technology Services team to ensure the university network is reliable secure and will assist with the strategic planning for future technology upgrades to provide the best services to our students employees and university community. This position will report to the Deputy CIO.
The Infrastructure Engineer completes non-routine system planning installation analysis and issue resolution independently to support institutional and partner network connectivity and performance. This position will support the broad spectrum of network hardware and software with a strong focus on Citrix Netscaler and Cisco infrastructure technologies. This position will have some evening/weekend work and on-call duties.

Department:
The IT Services division (ITS) provides computer technology services to the University of Wisconsin Whitewater at the Whitewater and Rock County campuses. ITS delivers desktop and server computing services and supports networks telecommunications Internet connectivity administrative and academic systems security instructional technology and other functions.
Compensation:
Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $85000 $90000.

Required Qualifications:
Three years of experience with managing network and edge devices including core access and distribution switches routers firewalls and other network hardware and software
Three years of experience with web application firewall and load balancing technology
Three years of experience with programming / scripting languages
Three years of experience using APIs for automation tasks
Three years of experience monitoring networks with SNMP NETCONF or RESTCONF
Three years of experience with TCP/IP protocol suite
Experience with management of Citrix and/or cloud resources
Experience with test equipment for all data transport technologies
Experience with safety construction and electrical power regulations
Experience with UNIX and UNIX network utilities
Experience with programming / scripting in multiple languages such as Python Perl PHP Java JavaScript
Azure AWS or Google Cloud Certifications are strongly preferred
Knowledge of End-User Computing (EUC) engineering and architecture including virtual desktop and application delivery advanced endpoint protection and/or the design and implementation of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions
Excellent problem-solving techniques
Excellent communication skills both oral and written
Excellent documentation skills
Strong quality customer service skills and techniques
Proven ability to analyze diagnose and resolve complex technical issues within large-scale IT environments leveraging advanced troubleshooting methodologies and a data-driven approach
Ability to apply innovative ideas and technology to various situations.
