About the role Mō te tūranga mahi

Were seeking a Manager Privacy & Ethics to join our team on a temporary basis until July 2026. This opportunity brings together the important responsibilities of being ACCs nominated Privacy Officer and people leadership of our Privacy & Ethics team.

As our Manager Privacy & Ethics you will lead and support a highly motivated team that delivers second-line privacy and ethics capability. This is at the heart of what ACC does working for the people we serve in Aotearoa to improve the quality of health outcomes and deliver an improved experience as well as ensuring we handle the significant information we hold appropriately.

In this role you will take the lead in driving privacy and ethics outcomes continuing to improve our privacy maturity and ensuring a focus on embedding privacy and ethics into everything we do.

As Privacy Officer you will be ACCs point of contact with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as well as being responsible for escalated privacy issues across the business.

You will work collaboratively as part of the Legal Privacy& Ethics leadership team to plan for and achieve key performance targets that are consistent with ACCs strategy and purpose.

The role reports to the General Counsel and Head of Legal Privacy & Ethics and is Wellington based.

The base salary range for this role is $164705 - $232525with appointment within the range depending on skills and experience and internal relativities.ACC also offers 9% superannuation on top of base salary for permanent and fixed term employees.

About you Mōu

You will be an SME that thrives on the opportunity to champion all things Privacy and Ethics at ACC - overseeing breach and complaint management delivering on a strategic privacy vision implementing relevant systems and processes enabling ACCs ethics panel and enabling privacy risk identification and management with privacy stakeholder engagement at all levels. There is regular reporting to both the Executive and Board on ACCs privacy performance.

To be successful in this role wed expect your background to have:

  • People leadership experience and demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate direct reports colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Sound knowledge of the Privacy Act Privacy Principles and the Health Information Privacy Code with the ability to translate it into practical how to business outcomes.
  • Experience dealing with privacy matters including resolution of requests corrections and complaints.
  • Understanding of relevant related areas including ethical principles frameworks and issues data & information management and sharing data & information security risk assurance & compliance and technology to enable a collaborative enterprise approach to ACCs Privacy and Ethics practice.
  • Proven ability to form a wide range of trusted relationships with experience in providing advice and reporting on complex issues to Executive teams Boards or Ministers.
  • Intellectual agility with the ability to quickly come to grips with complex issues obligations and legislative frameworks and problem solve.
  • A tertiary degree of relevance (i.e. Law Information Ethics) or demonstrable work experience and subject matter expertise to an equivalent level.
