TPI is currently hiring Print Production Associates (2nd Shift) to work onsite in Baton Rouge LA. This position requires strong attention to detail mechanical aptitude and a commitment to quality and teamwork. Previous bindery or print production experience is preferred; however TPI is willing to train the right candidate.
Position Summary: The Bindery Production Associate is responsible for supporting the production of printed materials through bindery and finishing operations. Key responsibilities include material handling machine setup and operation folding trimming binding and packaging of printed products. This role ensures accuracy quality and efficiency throughout the finishing process while maintaining equipment and a clean organized workspace.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in the setup and operation of bindery and finishing equipment including cutters folders and other finishing machinery.
- Load and unload printed materials for finishing processes such as folding trimming binding and packaging.
- Monitor equipment performance and finished output to ensure consistency accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
- Inspect finished materials for alignment defects and conformance to job specifications.
- Perform regular quality control checks throughout the bindery process to ensure all production meets required standards.
- Organize sort and package completed jobs for delivery or shipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of bindery work areas and equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines efficiently.
- Follow job tickets specifications and production schedules to ensure accurate and timely job completion.
- Operate pallet jacks and material handling tools to transport paper stock finished goods and supplies safely.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and standard operating procedures in the bindery and production areas.
Requirements
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain printing and finishing equipment.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under tight deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate job setup quality output and proper finishing.
- Manual dexterity for handling paper stock operating presses and handling finished products.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Team-oriented mindset with strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior exposure to a print shop warehouse or manufacturing environment a plus.
- Understanding of color calibration print quality standards and finishing processes.
- Familiarity with direct mail and variable data concepts.
- Knowledge of paper types coatings and finishing techniques.
Physical Demands: Standing for extended periods and frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs. Continuous vision. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs. to move palletized load. Frequent reaching twisting and gripping up to 25 lbs. to move paper stock. Occasional crouching and use of hand tools during routine machine maintenance.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Typical hours are Monday through Friday. 1st shift is 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; 2nd shift is 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Weekend hours may be required during peak production times. This position typically works 40-50 hours per week.
The pay range for this position is $17-$24 per hour. Compensation is dependent on experience and industry knowledge.
