About the Role

At Six Robotics we believe world-class technology deserves world-class documentation. As we scale Valkyrie our autonomous drone swarm platform were making an early and intentional investment in how users understand adopt and succeed with our products. Thats why were hiring our first Technical Writer to own all product documentation. This role goes far beyond writing manuals. With help from our software team youll implement a living documentation platform combining structured guides with live data interactive tools and embedded testing.

Your ultimate goal is maximizing team and user efficiency by ensuring Valkyrie is clear accessible and reliable for mission-critical users. As the founding member of this function you will define the standards and processes that all future hires will follow. While you do not need to be a deep-level engineer you must have the confidence to extract and structure complex information from technical experts. Success means Valkyries capabilities are fully documented structured and easy to maintain with all user manuals published accurately and on time with every software release.

What Youll Do:

• Documentation Architecture: Be the architect for all documentation and own our platform using tools like Sphinx and custom integrations as needed.
  
• Content Development: Develop and manage content enriched with live data interactive tools and 3D visualizations.
  
• Internal Collaboration: Proactively engage with engineers and subject matter experts to gather necessary information and never hesitate to ask clarifying questions to ensure documentation is accurate and testable.
  
• Publishing Automation: Enable multi-format publishing (web PDF localized versions) using automation and version control for consistency and scale.
  
• Strategic Foundation: Lay the groundwork for the future expansion of the documentation function contributing to standards and processes that will enable team growth.

Who Were Looking For

Were looking for someone who loves the craft of technical writing and thrives on ambiguity. You know how to turn sprawling technical complexity into clear structured and user-friendly documentation. As the first hire in this function youre excited to define standards solve edge cases and lay the groundwork for a scalable documentation practice.

To thrive in this role you likely bring a combination of the following:

• Exceptional writing skills and fluency in English.
• A docs as code mindset meaning you understand the principles of Git version control and automation.
• Familiarity with dynamic documentation and integrating live data from external systems.
• A strong sense of structure clarity and usability always advocating for the end-user perspective.
• Motivation to build something from scratch with full ownership of both process and platform and the vision to scale it into a function.

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with the s1000D standard is a huge plus.
• An understanding of scripting languages.

Our Recruitment Process

We aim to keep our process short and sweet but also thorough. As a small team every hire matters and we cant afford to get this one wrong.

Heres what to expect:

1. Screening interview with one of our recruiters to get to know you better (30 min).
2. Meet & Greet with someone from the team to learn more about us (60 min).
3. Structured case interview to get to know you even better (90 min).
4. Final interview and a chance to meet with the management team (45 min).
5. Reference check followed by an offer if everything goes well

Security Clearance Requirement

All employees at Six Robotics are required to undergo a security clearance due to our close collaboration with the Norwegian Armed Forces. While prior clearance is not necessary the clearance process will be initiated as part of onboarding.
