Job Summary
Operate set up and maintain 3axis CNC vertical machining centers to produce precision components that meet defined quality standards. You will load programs set up tooling and workholding run parts perform inprocess inspection deburr document results and collaborate with programming and QC to ensure safe efficient and repeatable production.
Key Responsibilities / Duties
Production operations: Load and run CNC programs; verify correct revision; set work offsets (e.g. G54G59); perform initial part proveouts; monitor cycles; make safe feed/speed adjustments; manage tool changes.
Setup and workholding: Install align and indicate vises soft jaws and modular fixtures; confirm datum strategy and part alignment; prepare and preload raw material.
Inprocess inspection and quality: Perform dimensional checks with calipers micrometers height gauges and indicators; record measurements; follow general tolerance standards; execute First Article Inspection (FAI) procedures.
Documentation and control: Follow setup sheets and travelers; maintain accurate machine logs; tag and segregate nonconforming parts; ensure traceability.
Continuous improvement and housekeeping: Contribute to cycle time/tool life improvements; maintain 5S; suggest process and fixture/toolpath enhancements.
Safety and compliance: Adhere to shop safety protocols PPE and lockout/tagout where applicable; handle coolants/chemicals per SDS.
Collaboration: Work closely with programmers and QC to resolve issues and improve processes.
Required Skills and amp; Qualifications
13 years operating CNC mills (3axis VMC).
Ability to read engineering drawings and GD and amp;T basics.
Experience setting work and tool offsets; safe program loading and verification.
Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills
Experience with probing cycles (e.g. Haas VPS/Renishaw) and FAI.
Knowledge of feeds/speeds optimization and basic tool life management.
Familiarity with fixture design (soft jaws) and basic CAD/CAM readonly.
