WHAT YOULL DO
As an Area Manager Trainee youll take your first steps toward becoming a strategic and inspiring business leader at H&M. Youll gain hands-on experience in key retail and business processes from driving sales and profitability to team leadership store operations and customer experience.
You will develop a deep understanding of how to lead and support a business area how to plan for future growth and how to empower store teams to deliver both commercial results and an outstanding shopping experience. With a focus on leadership and business acumen youll be guided by mentors and given the opportunity to take responsibility in real-life projects.
Throughout your trainee program you will be based in one of our Sales Market AT locations in Austria the Netherlands or Switzerland giving you the opportunity to gain valuable experience across different areas and store teams.
You will learn to:
- Support the Area Team in achieving sales and profit targets by analyzing KPIs identifying loss prevention opportunities and initiating
- Ensure all stores in the area deliver an excellent customer experience by implementing H&Ms commercial and operational guidelines.
- Collaborate with Area HR and Area Controller to align staffing with financial performance and support Store Managers in hiring and budgeting decisions.
- Oversee store operations layouts and visual merchandising standards to maximize the customer offering and overall sales.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure compliance with H&M policies routines and legal requirements.
- Act as a role model for H&Ms values and leadership expectations and help build a performance-driven inclusive team culture

Youll work closely with experienced Area Teams including Area Manager Area Controller Area HR and Area Visual as well as with Store Management Teams and colleagues from various support office functions.

We are looking for people with...
- 3 years of proven leadership experience with a history of achieving measurable business results.
- Strong results in the areas of people development and engagement
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Proven organizational analytical and decision-making abilities
- Strong commercial vision to set a strategy to maximize sales and profitability
- Communication skills including fluent written and spoken English
And people who are
- Sales-driven and result oriented
- A creative team player with love for fashion and drive to constantly develop customer experience in stores and our business
- Focused on our customers to optimize our results and fulfill the customers expectations
- Able to plan prioritize monitor and respond to changes quickly and effectively
- Clear and inspiring in communication with excellent organizational time management and presentation skills
- Ambassadors for the company culture and values
JOIN US
This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible. You will be based in Amsterdam and spend time traveling to Stores within your assigned Area.
The 12 months trainee program is designed to prepare you for a future role as Area Manager. For this reason we ask you to be open and flexible in terms of location within the Netherlands once you complete the program.
If you are flexible to work across multiple countries this will be considered as a strong advantage.
