The Mobility team is an established team responsible for the Transport module in the Grab app. We improve the core transport booking experience. We are working on high throughput real-time distributed systems that use sophisticated algorithms and machine learning techniques to solve hundreds of millions of requests per day. Our mission is to offer the best products and experiences to our passengers to increase adoption engagement and conversion of our services.
We are a distributed team with members spread across Singapore China Vietnam and Malaysia at the moment. Our mode of communication is English both in spoken and written form. Our team has direct end-user contact and influence on the bottom line for Grab. You will report to our Software Engineering Manager and you will based onsite in our Petaling Jaya office.
Get to Know the Role
We are looking for experienced and passionate Engineers to join our team you will have opportunities to work on multiple backend services and frontend web applications and participating in immersions talking directly to the end-users identifying their challenges and how we can help them in their work life. It is very important that our team members to identify problems and have the right mindset and skills to solve them.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
- Youll create responsive user-friendly interfaces using JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Youll design and improve our advanced large-scale services. The goal is to ensure that these services are always available and scalable across all of Grabs diverse product range.
- Youll improve and shape new design architectures. The focus here is on scalability and performance. of our services.
- When issues arise youll conduct root cause analysis investigations to identify and rectify them.
- Youll collaborate with product managers designers and team members to deliver features.
- Youll lead feature development from conception to deployment driving technical decision-making.
- Youll debug and make necessary modifications to our production software. Your efforts will ensure that our software is always running smoothly providing a reliable service to our users.
- Youll mentor junior developers and conduct code reviews to foster growth.
Qualifications :
What Essential Skills You Will Need
- 4 years of professional software development experience.
- Advanced JavaScript/TypeScript skills familiar with several UI development techniques.
- Experienced Backend development stack including API development Databases Caching techniques Queueing frameworks etc.
- Write extensible code for complex projects and pick the right abstractions that follow SOLID principles. Understand more complex data structures and algorithms and recognize when to use them.
- Experience with defect tracking tools and version control.
- Committed to maintaining a set of software engineering skills.
- An understanding of clean architecture principles.
- Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
- Experience with web frameworks and tools such as Webpack etc.
