Head of ICT and Innovation

Job description

In addition to carrying a teaching load the Head of ICT and Innovation is expected to:

• Take overall responsibility for teaching and learning across the ICT and Innovation department.
  
• Ensure effective assessment and reporting practices are embedded and used to monitor student progress and tailor instruction to individual learning needs.
  
• Monitor student behavior within the department and support teachers in applying appropriate rewards and sanctions in collaboration with the pastoral team.
  
• Attend and actively contribute to Head of Department meetings and communicate relevant information to departmental colleagues.
  
• Oversee the development and quality of schemes of work and long-term curriculum plans ensuring they are aligned with school goals and readily available to leadership.
  
• Stay informed about school policies and ensure departmental compliance with procedures outlined in the staff handbook.
  
• Regularly inspect ICT and Innovation facilities addressing any health and safety issues promptly and ensuring that all physical and digital learning environments are safe up to date and conducive to high-quality education.
  
• Observe lessons within the department offering constructive feedback to promote professional growth.
  
• Support school-wide initiatives including teacher induction and professional learning days.
  
• Manage the department budget responsibly balancing innovation and operational needs with fiscal prudence.
  

Background

Wuxi Dipont School of Arts and Science was founded with the strong support of the Wuxi local government through a partnership between two world-leading schools Nanjing Foreign Language School China and Kings College School Wimbledon UK all of whom aimed to build a school of the future which focuses on providing well-rounded education. It opened in September 2018 with 750 pupils and has a current enrollment of just under 2000 students. Requirements

About you

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related fields; Masters degree preferred
  
• Excited about teaching EAL learners throughout the age-range we offer (G1-12)
  
• 2 years of good quality post-qualification experience
  
• Able to demonstrate a rigorous approach to planning and assessment
  
• Ability to collaborate establish rapport and communicate in a Dual Language Immersion environment/multi-cultural contexts
  
• Skills in using data to inform teaching and learning
